A Letter from the XVIth Lithuanian Folk Dance Festival's Artistic Director (Jan 6, 2019):
Dear Lithuanian folk dance group directors, teachers,
I sincerely greet you all, with the New Year 2019, and wish you all unwaning energy in your difficult work. Success, luck and health to you and your families.
It seems just a short time ago that we were all twirling together in the dance creations of the XV Šokių Šventė in Baltimore, and now it's time to begin preparing for the 2020 Švente, to which the city of Philadelphia graciously opened its doors..
The Švente organizing committee and the Artistic group have already started working, so I want to ask you to begin actively to register for the upcoming Švente. The official registration has not yet opened , but if you already know how many and which age groups you will have, please let me know immediately. I will be very grateful.
From time to time new groups are created, about which we do not all know.
If you have such information, please share with me, so that we can bring them into our common dance community.
I also want to let you know that the Šokių Švente teachers' course will be held this coming summer, at our beloved Dainava Camp in Michigan, Aug. 11-18. At this course, it is mandatory that each group is represented by one or two directors or teachers. It would also be good if each group brought along a pair of dancers. Campers may not be younger than 18 years old.
If you have any questions, please write me, I will gladly answer.
Good luck to all.
